Lighter Launches EVM Development Network in Collaboration with Axiom
Written with artificial intelligence.

Lighter has announced the launch of its EVM development network (devnet), built in collaboration with Axiom. This rollup, powered by OpenVM, operates in parallel with Lighter Core and aims to settle transactions on Ethereum using a single ZK proof.
Overview of Lighter EVM Development Network
On October 16, Lighter officially launched its EVM development network, known as devnet. This network is an EVM-equivalent rollup created in partnership with Axiom and operates using OpenVM.
Features for Developers
The Lighter EVM and Lighter Core are designed to settle transactions on Ethereum through a unified ZK proof. Developers can utilize various tools such as Foundry, Hardhat, Viem, and Ethers to deploy smart contracts. They can access Lighter Core's account data, balances, positions, orders, and market data. Moreover, they can place, modify, and cancel orders via smart contracts.
Asset Transfer Capabilities
Users will also have the ability to transfer assets between devnet L1, Lighter Core, and Lighter EVM.
Access and Availability
Currently, Lighter is rolling out access in batches, with plans to open it to all developers in the coming weeks.
